Maple Leafs Won't Rule Out Stolarz for Game 2: 'He's Doing Good'

The Toronto Maple Leafs are keeping their options open regarding goaltender Anthony Stolarz's availability for Game 2 against the Florida Panthers. Following a scary incident in Game 1, where Stolarz was hit in the head by Panthers center Sam Bennett, his status remains uncertain.
Head coach Craig Berube offered a cautious "we'll see" when questioned about Stolarz's participation in Wednesday night's game. While confirming Stolarz underwent evaluation at a hospital after exiting Game 1, Berube remained tight-lipped about the nature of the injury, stopping short of confirming or denying a concussion.
There's a glimmer of hope for Leafs fans, however. Berube confirmed Stolarz's presence at the team's practice facility Tuesday morning, stating, "He's here. He's doing good."
The possibility of Joseph Woll starting Game 2 looms large. When pressed about Woll's preparedness, Berube responded with a non-committal, "Yeah, I don't know that yet. I'll probably find out (later) today."
Woll, who stepped in for Stolarz in Game 1 after a brief period of rest, has a proven track record of stepping up in high-pressure situations. His performance in prior playoff games, notably relieving Ilya Samsonov and delivering near flawless performances, offers reassurance if he gets the starting nod again.
While Woll looked slightly less than his best in Game 1 relief, he managed to hold on for the 5-4 win — a testament to his resilience and skill.
The incident involving Bennett and Stolarz was certainly concerning, with Stolarz leaving the game after vomiting. You can see the impact here: Video of the incident (replace with actual link if available)
Ultimately, the decision on Stolarz's participation will rest with the team's medical staff and coaching decisions. The Leafs' Game 2 matchup promises to be a nail-biter, regardless of who stands between the pipes.
